Site Configurations
Serial-TCP
Many operational devices were designed long before modern IP networking became commonplace. Serial-TCP allows those devices to remain useful by transporting serial communications across modern IP networks.
Rather than replacing working equipment, GridSecure can bridge serial protocols into secure IP connectivity, allowing legacy assets to participate in modern operational networks.
Typical applications
Legacy Doesn't Mean Obsolete
Making old devices work on modern networks.
Serial devices often have no concept of IP addressing, routing, VPNs or modern networking. They simply transmit and receive data over a serial interface.
GridSecure bridges these communications into secure IP connectivity, allowing systems to communicate across modern WAN services whilst preserving the protocol behaviour expected by the end device.
To the application, the remote device still behaves as expected. To the network, it appears as a secure managed endpoint.
Hardware Options
Simple serial deployments
A compact industrial router with RS485 connectivity, ideal for straightforward telemetry and meter migrations where a simple, cost-effective solution is required.
Ethernet WAN environments
Designed for sites with existing WAN connectivity. USB serial support and multiple Ethernet interfaces allow a wide range of integration options.
Wireless WAN deployments
Provides wireless WAN flexibility whilst retaining industrial Ethernet and USB serial capabilities for more complex installations.
Multi-protocol support
GridSecure deployments regularly support a wide range of industrial and utility protocols. The exact implementation is determined by the application, device and operational requirements.
Serial-TCP is only one part of the picture. We frequently work with protocol conversion, transparent transport and application specific integrations.
GridSecure Approach
Built around GridNet, not third-party management platforms.
Whilst many deployments rely on vendor-specific management platforms, GridSecure develops its own provisioning, configuration and telemetry tooling.
This allows greater flexibility, tighter integration with the GridNet platform and a more consistent customer experience across different hardware vendors.
Vendor flexibility
Teltonika hardware forms an important part of many deployments, however GridSecure is not tied to a single manufacturer.
We regularly evaluate and integrate other industrial networking vendors where they better suit a specific technical, environmental or operational requirement.
Need to connect a legacy device?
Whether the device speaks RS485, RS232, Modbus, DLMS or a proprietary serial protocol, GridSecure can help design a secure and supportable communications path into a modern IP network.
