Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) provides a direct fibre connection into the site and is often our preferred WAN service for new deployments. It removes many of the limitations associated with legacy copper services and creates a robust foundation for long-term IP connectivity.
How FTTP differs
Fibre delivers Ethernet directly into the site.
Fibre enters the building
Openreach installs fibre directly into the premises and terminates it on an Optical Network Terminal (ONT).
Ethernet handoff provided
The ONT presents a standard Ethernet connection that can be connected to customer networking equipment.

Site Reality
The fibre service is often the easy part.
One of the most overlooked challenges in operational environments is the physical location of the fibre handoff. The ONT may be installed in a communications room, while the meter, RTU or operational asset could be hundreds of metres away in another part of the site.
The ONT is rarely where you need it
The fibre termination point is often installed wherever Openreach can practically bring the service into the building, not necessarily where operational equipment is located.
No wireless capability
The Ethernet handoff itself cannot bridge wirelessly across a site. Additional infrastructure may be required where long cable runs are impractical.
Industrial integration still required
Meters, RTUs and telemetry equipment often require additional networking hardware beyond the fibre service itself.

FTTP services are typically more expensive than SoGEA but often provide a better long-term solution. Monthly costs commonly fall between £40 and £100+ depending on speed, provider and resilience requirements.
